Civil War Day at OMS
On Friday, April 26, 2013, the 8th graders at Ockerman Middle School got the chance to visit various presenters to learn about the Civil War. Historians and reenactors were on hand in period costumes to teach our students all about the Civil War including artillery, medicine, weapons, music, dancing and so much more!

BullyProofing Youth
Nationally known therapist, Jim Bisenius visited us to share strategies that teach students how to handle potential bullying situations with the Ockerman Middle School commuity. Students and staff have participated in sessions throughout the school day!
For more information about his program, please follow this link to Mr. Bisenius' website. Jim was also gracious enough to leave us with handouts for the staff as well as parents and students. Please contact our front office if you would like one!

Becoming a Chaperone If you would like to volunteer to help with activities at school or chaperone field trips, you will need to complete and return the Youth Leadership Request form (also known as a Background Check form). Forms must completed and either turned into your child's school with a $10 fee or mailed to: Administrative Office of the Courts, Records Unit, 100 Mill Creek Park, Frankfort, KY 40601, along with the $20 fee.

To email teachers, students can find teacher email addresses to the left of the home page where it says "Contact Faculty/Staff." To email other students, they can type in the email address of the student, which will follow the same pattern as their own (firstname.lastname@stu.boone.kyschools.us)

Dedicated in 1965, Ockerman Middle School has a history that is longer than any of the other middle schools in Boone County. We received a total remodel in 2005 with the addition of a new gymnasium, science wing, and computer labs. Our 55 member faculty provides daily instruction for approximately 850 students. Our middle schoolers attend Boone County HS, Larry A. Ryle HS, and Randall C. Cooper HS. We are glad you've chosen to visit us. Welcome!
